The Hercules emulator it can run SUSE Enterprise Linux 10 SP2 (s390x), one of the versions of z/Linux for the IBM mainframe.  The emulator itself can be run on Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 on a PC or server.  Once installed and booted, the emulator can be controlled through its front panel in a similar manner as the real machine.

At the moment TurboHercules is in the beta testing phase for the z/Linux on Hercules on Windows combination. 

In the meanwhile we invite prospective users to try the demonstration packages we have available on our site.  First go to the Documentation section and pick up a copy of the beta installation instructions.  Then go to the Downloads section to obtain the needed files (FileZilla FTP Server, WinPcap Installer, Xming Xwindows Server and Xming Portable PuTTY) for your particular installation.  The SLES 10 SP2 operating system is available directly from Novell.  See the installation instructions for details.
